Statement as of 6:07 am CST on February 17, 2012(( south Texas ))

Special Weather Statement

... Locally heavy rainfall and strong to severe storms expected
tonight...

A potent upper level low will interact with abundant moisture to
produce high chances for showers and thunderstorms across south
Texas today and tonight. The potential for heavier rainfall may
come in rounds... with this afternoon... and the better and more
widespread potential late tonight. Precipitation chances will end
west to east Saturday morning as a cold front moves through the
region.

Impacts: rainfall... generally 1/2 to 1 inch of rainfall is
expected across much of south Texas through tonight. Locally
heavier rainfall may result in isolated higher amounts of 1 to 2
inches. This could result in minor... nuisance flooding of small
streams and some isolated urban locations. Widespread flash
flooding is not anticipated at this time. There is also the
potential for strong to severe thunderstorms late tonight with
large hail and damaging wind gusts.
