A few severe storms are forecast to develop later this afternoon and evening along or just ahead of a dry line across western portions of North and Central Texas. The atmosphere across the region is very unstable, and storms that do develop will be capable of very large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. The chance of storms ranges between 20% and 40% across the red shaded area, so storm development isn't guaranteed but it is probable. Storms will move generally southeast once they develop. If you are in the red shaded area, stay informed of the latest weather information between 4 pm and 10 pm and be alert to rapidly changing conditions. In the hatched area to the east of the red shading, a strong cap, or layer of warm air at 5000 feet should suppress storm development.
